What our website support covers

A business website rarely fails because of one dramatic event. More often, small technical jobs are left undone until an update causes a conflict, a certificate expires, a form stops sending or an unnoticed outage starts costing enquiries.

Our website support plans combine routine maintenance with practical technical help. Essential Care covers weekly core, plugin and theme updates, daily off-server backups, 24/7 uptime monitoring, security scanning and hardening, a monthly health report and next business day email support.

Professional Care adds 60 minutes of development time each month, fixes within 24 to 48 hours, speed and Core Web Vitals monitoring, a monthly accessibility scan, and phone and email support seven days a week. Premium Care increases included development time to three hours a month, adds a priority two-hour emergency response, WooCommerce and payment testing, a quarterly SEO and conversion review, and a direct line to your engineer.

If the main issue is keeping WordPress technically maintained, see WordPress support. For a broader outsourced service covering the ongoing running of the site, see website management.

Website support should prevent problems as well as fix them

Good website support is not just an emergency number. Preventive work matters because websites sit on a changing technical stack. WordPress, themes and plugins release updates, PHP versions move through their support lifecycle, browsers change and third-party services can alter the way forms, payments or scripts behave.

WordPress recommends keeping plugins and themes updated and advises having a current backup before carrying out updates. That backup should also be useful when it is needed. The National Cyber Security Centre recommends keeping backups separate from the systems they protect and testing restoration rather than assuming a backup can be recovered successfully.

That is why our plans combine scheduled updates, off-server backups, monitoring and security work instead of treating each task in isolation. When a site has a checkout, enquiry form or other business-critical function, the practical question is not simply whether the page loads. It is whether the parts customers rely on still work after changes are applied.

Technical website support when something changes

Websites often need attention even when nothing is visibly broken. A hosting company may introduce a newer PHP version, a plugin may stop supporting an old dependency, a DNS record may need changing or performance may deteriorate as new scripts and content are added.

PHP itself has defined support periods for each release branch. Once a branch reaches end of life, it no longer receives PHP project support. A safe upgrade therefore involves more than selecting a different version in a hosting panel. Themes, plugins and custom code may need compatibility checks first. For sites approaching that point, our PHP upgrade service covers compatibility auditing, staging tests, code fixes where required and a rollback plan.

Performance also needs context. Google's Core Web Vitals assess loading performance, responsiveness and visual stability through LCP, INP and CLS. Professional and Premium Care include Core Web Vitals monitoring so regressions can be spotted rather than left to accumulate. For a dedicated performance project, see page speed optimisation.

Website support plans and prices

Essential Care costs £59 a month or £590 a year. It is intended for brochure sites that need routine updates, backups, monitoring and security work.

Professional Care costs £119 a month or £1,190 a year. It is designed for business websites where downtime or technical faults have a direct operational cost. It includes one hour of development time each month and faster support than Essential Care.

Premium Care costs £249 a month or £2,490 a year. It is intended for ecommerce and higher-traffic sites that need more development time, WooCommerce and payment testing, and a priority two-hour emergency response.

Full plan details are available on our website support pricing page. If your site is already down or broken and you do not need a monthly plan, the published Emergency Fix service is £249 per incident, with a response within two working hours and no fix, no fee.

Choosing the right level of ongoing website support

The right support level depends less on the size of the company than on what the website does. A five-page brochure site with occasional content changes has very different failure risks from a WooCommerce store processing payments throughout the day.

Start with the consequences of a problem. Consider how long the site could reasonably be unavailable, whether customers submit important information through it, whether it processes payments, how often content or functionality changes and whether anyone inside the organisation has the time and technical access to deal with updates safely.

If you already have hosting you are happy with, you do not need to move it simply to get technical help. Our separate hosting support service manages SSL, DNS, email and server-level issues while you remain with your existing host. If you want hosting and WordPress management together, see managed WordPress hosting.
