WordPress support that deals with the cause

A WordPress fault can appear simple while the underlying cause sits somewhere else entirely. A broken page after an update might come from a theme function, a plugin conflict, an incompatible PHP version, exhausted memory or a server configuration change.

Good WordPress support starts by diagnosing that chain rather than changing settings until the symptom disappears. Useful evidence includes PHP error logs, browser console errors, WordPress Site Health, plugin logs and the timing of recent changes.

We can investigate critical errors, broken layouts, failed forms, admin problems, plugin conflicts and unexpected behaviour across WordPress. Where a problem should be reproduced safely before a change is made, a staging copy gives us somewhere to test without experimenting on the live site.

If the problem is urgent, our emergency website fix service covers one-off incidents. One-off fixes on this page start from £249.

Safe WordPress updates and PHP changes

WordPress sites depend on several moving parts. WordPress core, the active theme, plugins, PHP and the hosting environment can all change independently. Updating everything at once makes it harder to identify which change caused a problem.

WordPress itself recommends backing up a site before updating it. For maintained sites, we take a controlled approach: keep a usable backup available, apply updates regularly and check the site afterwards rather than assuming a successful update screen means every function still works.

PHP upgrades need similar care. A hosting control panel may make changing PHP versions look like a one-click task, but older themes, plugins and custom code can contain functions that fail on a newer PHP release. For a larger version change, compatibility should be checked before production is switched.

Businesses dealing specifically with an outdated server environment can also use our PHP upgrade service.

Ongoing WordPress support plans

Ongoing support is intended to prevent routine maintenance from becoming an emergency job. Our WordPress care plans combine scheduled maintenance with monitoring and technical support.

  • Essential Care, £59 a month or £590 annually: weekly WordPress core, plugin and theme updates, daily off-server backups, 24/7 uptime monitoring, security scanning and hardening, a monthly health report and email support by the next business day.
  • Professional Care, £119 a month or £1,190 annually: everything in Essential plus 60 minutes of development time each month, fixes within 24 to 48 hours, speed and Core Web Vitals monitoring, a monthly accessibility scan, and phone and email support seven days a week.
  • Premium Care, £249 a month or £2,490 annually: everything in Professional plus three hours of development time each month, priority two-hour emergency response, WooCommerce and payment testing, a quarterly SEO and conversion review, and a direct line to your engineer.

The right plan depends less on the number of pages than on what happens if the site fails. A brochure website has different operational risk from an ecommerce store taking orders throughout the day.

Backups, monitoring and WordPress security

Updates are only part of looking after WordPress. A useful support arrangement also needs a recovery route. Our care plans include daily off-server backups so a copy is held separately from the live website rather than relying solely on the hosting account being repaired after an incident.

WordPress security also depends on reducing avoidable exposure. WordPress guidance covers areas such as keeping software current, controlling administrative access, using appropriate file permissions, protecting configuration files, monitoring the installation and maintaining backups.

Monitoring adds another layer. An uptime alert tells us that the site has stopped responding, while security scanning can identify suspicious changes that require investigation. Businesses that only need this layer can see our uptime and security monitoring service.

If malware is already present, the job changes from routine maintenance to incident recovery. See WordPress malware removal for that situation.

When to get WordPress help

Some WordPress problems can wait for the next maintenance cycle. Others should be investigated before more changes are made. Repeated critical errors, failed checkouts, unexplained redirects, missing administrator access, sudden server errors and faults that return after an update are all signs that diagnosis matters more than another quick workaround.

It is also worth getting support before a significant change if the site is commercially important. A major plugin upgrade, PHP move, host migration or replacement theme can affect several parts of the installation at once.

Common questions

Answers to the questions we hear most about this.

How much does WordPress support cost?

Our ongoing WordPress care plans cost £59, £119 or £249 a month. Annual prices are £590, £1,190 and £2,490. One-off fixes on this page start from £249.

Can you fix a WordPress site without taking over the hosting?

Yes. Support and maintenance do not require you to move hosting. If the problem involves the server, SSL, DNS or hosting configuration, our Hosting Support plan is available separately.

Do you support plugin and theme problems?

Yes. Plugin conflicts, theme faults, failed updates and compatibility problems are common WordPress support issues. Diagnosis may involve WordPress logs, PHP errors, browser errors and testing changes away from the live site.

Can you help with an outdated PHP version?

Yes. PHP upgrades should be checked against the active theme, plugins and custom code before the live server is changed. A separate PHP Upgrade Service is available for sites that need a planned version move.

Does WordPress support include backups?

Yes. Essential, Professional and Premium Care include daily off-server backups. Essential Care and above also include weekly WordPress core, plugin and theme updates.
